Masalah pemanasan global dan perubahan iklim diyakini oleh bangsa-bangsa di dunia, sebagai dampak pemakaian energy fosil yang sekian lama menumpuk. Dampak pemanasan global telah mendorong malapetaka di belahan dunia, diantaranya adalah perubahan iklim, banjir dan kekeringan.  Hal ini di masa mendatang dapat memacu krisis pangan, krisis lingkungan dan krisis energi yang pada akhirnya dapat mendorong krisis sosial dan krisis ekonomi.
