THE INDONESIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCES (LIPI)ASIAN BIOHYDROGEN ASSOCIATION
ASEAN NETWORKING FOR BIOPROCESS AND BIOREFINERY TECHNOLOGY
The challenges and solutions to development of technology for sustainable energy is a major issue that bridges the academic endeavors of the scientific community to the real problems of the global community. In this regards, bio-hydrogen stands as a remarkably useful energy carrier source for alleviating the pressures of limited resources as well as promoting the use of environmentally friendly energy. Produced from renewable resources such as water and organic wastes by biological means, biohydrogen represents a hopeful solution to some of the everyday problems that people face in terms of energy needs, not only in Asia, but also all around the world.
Currently, we are involving in organizing The 2011 Asian Bio-Hydrogen and Biorefinery Symposium (2011ABBS), which will be held during Oct. 13-15, 2011 in Bogor, Indonesia, with a theme of “Advanced Biohydrogen and Biorefinery Technology”. This is a specially designed conference, which covers a wide range of critically important themes from advanced biohydrogen and biorefinery technologies. It aims to become one of the region’s largest events of 2011 in the field of advanced biohydrogen and biorefinery technology, which provides a great opportunity to share in what has happened, be part of what is happening and influence the future direction in one of the fastest growing industry sectors and make new friends.
Follow the successful path of the 2010 symposium held in Taichung, Taiwan, and 2010 Asean-Korea symposium and workshop held in Jakarta, Indonesia, the participants brought in a large number of papers covering a wide range of topics on the subject of “Biohydrogen as a sustainable energy source” and “Green Bioprocess and Biorefinery Technology”; we are proud to announce 2011ABBS.
The symposium was organized by Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia, LIPI), ‘‘Asia Bio-HyLinks’’ (an Asia-based bio-hydrogen association) and “ASEAN NBT (ASEAN-Networking for Bioprocess and Biorefinery Technology). The aims of this symposium were to facilitate the communication and exchange of ideas, evaluate current progress on early-stage findings and inform and identify promising research and development directions in the field of biohydrogen and biorefinery in Asian countries.
High quality papers will be selected and published in special issue of the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. The 2011ABBS will be an excellent opportunity for having constructive discussions and for participants to develop fruitful cooperation amongst themselves.
On behalf of the organizing symposium, I am pleased to welcome you to join us and give a paper in these topics include
Biomass to hydrogen and biochemicals
Molecular biology approaches
Biohydrogen by dark/photo fermentation
Biorefineries and its applications
